Rock of Ages
In the twilight of 1980s Hollywood, the Sunset Strip pulses with Aqua Net, Lycra, and rock 'n' roll. Aspiring musician Drew dreams of stardom while pining for newcomer Sherri. But their ambitions face a threat when German developers aim to replace the iconic venue with a mall. To save their dreams and the Strip, they rally with the power of classic hits by bands like Styx and Bon Jovi. Rock of Ages enjoyed a successful run of 2,328 shows on Broadway, also performed on Off-Broadway, in three National Tours and on the West End, as well as in Australia, Scandinavia, Toronto, Tokyo, Korea, Philippines, Mexico, China, and other territories.
“A seriously silly, absurdly enjoyable arena-rock musical... the performances blend sincere conviction and knowing parody. I never would have guessed that wine coolers could age this well!”
- The New York Times
“As the show opens with blinding lights, shredding guitars and hammer-handed drumming, even nonbelievers may start inhaling the Aqua Net and embracing their inner rocker.”
- Variety
“Even doubters will be wiping tears from their Wayfarers. Rock of Ages is the power-ballad decade in all its glory, tricked out with big perms, bigger dreams, and the kind of operatic ecstasy you read about only in bathroom stalls.”
